Page numbers can be very helpful when you are working with multi-page documents. It allows your readers to take a break while reading and set the document aside, knowing that they can use the page numbers to easily return to where they had stopped reading. Additionally, should the pages of your document become separated, the page numbers will make it easier to put the document back together.

How to Insert Page Numbers in Microsoft Word 2013
The steps below are going to add page numbers to the bottom-right of the page. However, you can instead choose to add page numbers to the top or side of the page, if you wish.
Step 1: Open your document in Word 2013.
Step 2: Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
Step 3: Click the Page Number button in Header & Footer section of the ribbon.
Step 4: Select the part of the page where you wish to insert the page number, then choose the particular page number style that you would like to use. Note that there are additional options available if you scroll down this list.
